Glendale, Cali.. -- Tonight the Glendale City Council voted to essentially scrap the plan to rebuild the Grayson Power Plant and to invest in clean energy storage solutions. This decision is the second major move to cut back gas power  -- the first happened last week when the Berkeley City Council unanimously approved a ban on gas in newly constructed buildings -- in a wave of initiatives led by local leaders that is sweeping the state in order to build stronger economies and healthier communities by saying no to gas.

In response, Sierra Club Senior Campaign Representative Luis Amezcua released the following statement:

“Today’s decision is the beginning of a major transition toward putting the power back in the hands of local communities. As fossil fuel companies continue digging their heels into their astroturfed talking points and backwards policies, it is critical that we continue to push for locally led decisions like these that end our reliance on fossil fuels, promote clean air and invest in energy solutions that work for our current and future communities.”
