Washington, DC -- Today, Senate Democrats rejected Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans insufficient COVID relief package. McConnell’s failed attempt comes nearly four months after House Democrats passed the $3 trillion HEROES Act, which would provide the necessary funds for, among others, state, local, and Tribal governments, first responders, and hospitals.

In response, Sierra Club Legislative Director Melinda Pierce released the following statement:

“After wasting nearly four months as families across the country suffer, lose loved ones, and face dire economic hardships, Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans continue to ignore their responsibilities. Enough is enough. Rather than rushing to confirm unqualified judges or going on prolonged vacations, the Senate needs to do their job and pass a meaningful and robust relief package today.”
