Washington, DC -- Today, Donald Trump ordered negotiations on a relief package to be cut off while demanding his nominee to the Supreme Court be the Senate’s lone priority.

A recent poll found that 74% of registered voters want the Senate to prioritize a COVID relief package over Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court.

In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:

“More than 210,000 of our family members and friends are dead because of COVID-19. More than 26 million have had to file for unemployment. And millions more across the country are suffering under a lack of normalcy and perpetual trauma, all of which was completely preventable if it wasn’t for Donald Trump’s utter failures. While Trump received top-tier medical care -- all while failing to pay taxes for over a decade -- the rest of us are left to suffer.

“Ushering through extremist judges does nothing but cement Trump’s dangerous record of undermining our collective humanity and our planet. Donald Trump and his Republican minions in the Senate must be stopped at all costs, and then voted out of office.”
