Washington, DC -- Today, every single House Democrat and 10 Republicans voted to impeach Donald Trump for the second time. Following last week’s attack on our democracy, the Sierra Club called for Trump’s removal from office and the expulsion of any member of Congress complicit.

In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:

“Donald Trump is a traitor to this country and a threat to our democracy. Democracy demands justice. Democracy requires justice. Democracy is rooted in justice. There can be no unity with white supremacists and those who seek to overthrow an election and incite violence. Those who echoed Trump’s lies and attacks, those who defend his actions, and those who refuse to hold him accountable are complicit in his insurrection and must be expelled from Congress immediately. By impeaching him today, the House took a historic first step towards holding Trump accountable, and now, the Senate must vote to convict him.”
