After the courts ruled the pipeline is operating illegally, the Biden Administration must decide on Feb. 10th whether to shut it down while an environmental review is undertaken

A broad coalition of Native-led groups, environmental organizations, and influencers released a letter calling on President Biden and Vice President Harris to stand with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and shut down the Dakota Access pipeline (DAPL) following the Jan. 27 court ruling that the pipeline is operating illegally without the necessary federal permits.

CHICAGO, IL -- Save Our Illinois Land (SOIL), the Sierra Club, NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), and area landowner William Klingele filed an appeal this week of the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) decision to approve the expansion of the pump stations for the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) and Energy Transfer Crude Oil Pipeline (ETCOP), which will enable the pipelines to nearly double the amount of crude oil they transport.

This morning, a federal judge ordered that the Dakota Access pipeline be shut down and emptied of oil by August 5, 2020.

A coalition of environmental, landowner, and Indigenous groups filed an amicus brief today in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in support of the Standing Rock Sioux and Cheyenne River Sioux Tribes and other affected Tribes, asking the court to invalidate an easement for the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Washington, DC – Today, Donald Trump’s Army Corps of Engineers cancelled the ongoing environmental impact review for the Dakota Access Pipeline and notified Congress that it has granted the final easement to allow the project to be completed.
