Boston — Today, the Massachusetts State Legislature passed ‘An Act driving clean energy and offshore wind,’ a climate bill that will expand clean energy, transportation electrification, and building decarbonization measures to create jobs and help reach statewide emissions reduction targets. The provisions in this bill will support much needed progress to reduce emissions 50% by 2030 as required by law. Governor Baker must now sign the bill into law by the end of the month.

New York — Today, Governor Hochul, Department of the Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, and Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Director Amanda Lefton broke ground on construction for New York’s first offshore wind farm, and the second commercial-scale offshore wind project to be approved by the federal government. The South Fork Wind Farm begins construction this year and is expected to begin operation at the end of 2023.

New York – Today, the Biden Administration announced an auction for lease areas to develop up to 7GW of new offshore wind in the New York Bight. The announcement marks major progress towards President Biden’s goal of developing 30GW of offshore wind by 2030.

The Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) approved more than 1,650 MW of proposed offshore wind projects filed by US Wind and Skipjack Offshore Energy. This decision locks US Wind and Skipjack into economic development commitments across Maryland for the offshore wind industry.

Trenton -- Today New Jersey Board of Public Utilities awarded offshore wind solicitations to two projects that combined will develop offshore wind capacity of 2,658 MW - the largest offshore wind procurement in the history of the country. The first project will be completed by Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind Project 1 LLC, which is a joint venture between EDF RE Offshore Development LLC and Shell New Energies US LLC. The second project will be completed by Ocean Wind 2 LLC, a direct subsidiary of Ørsted Offshore North America Inc.
