The U.S. House of Representatives today passed a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to overturn the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Alaska National Wildlife Refuges Rule. Voiding the rule undermines the management of public lands in Alaska, including not only national wildlife refuge lands, but also national park lands in Denali and other places.

The priorities include speeding leasing and permitting for dirty fuel development on public land, reforming the implementation of bedrock environmental laws to limit public input on projects and minimize accountability for companies that pollute our air and water or harm wildlife, and opening up new areas to development.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-- According to news reports, Donald Trump has donated his first quarter salary of just over $78,000 to the National Park Service. The move comes after Trump proposed slashing the Department of the Interior’s budget by 12%, which includes the National Park Service.

Sierra Club Response To Trump’s Rigged Budget Proposal

Washington, DC -- Today, the U.S. Senate defeated a vote that would have paved the way for revoking the Bureau of Land Management’s methane waste prevention rule, a standard which would prevent the leaking and flaring of methane from oil and gas operations on public and tribal lands. Senator Michael Bennet voted against the bill while Senator Cory Gardner voted in favor of nullifying the rule.
