WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Sierra Club representatives testified before the National Capital Planning Commission in opposition to the Trump administration’s proposal to construct a 250-foot arch on National Park Service land at Memorial Circle, adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery. During the hearing, the representatives urged the Commission to reject the proposal, arguing it would permanently alter one of the nation’s most significant commemorative landscapes.

The Sierra Club Military Outdoors campaign released a report surveying the military community’s experiences with the outdoors, including a set of recommendations for the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Task Force on Outdoor Recreation for Veterans to improve outdoor accessibility for the veteran and the military community.
