Washington, DC – Today, the Biden Administration announced a new target for the United States to achieve a 61-66 percent reduction from 2005 levels in economy-wide net greenhouse gas pollution in 2035. The emissions target – known as the “nationally determined contribution” or “NDC,” is a formal submission to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Helena, MT - Today the Montana Supreme Court ruled in favor of youth plaintiffs who sued the state over violating their constitutional right to a "clean and healthful environment." The decision upholds a 2023 landmark ruling that nullified two laws, which favored expensive fossil fuel projects and aimed to avoid environmental reviews.

Washington, D.C. - Today, the EPA granted California a waiver to implement its Advanced Clean Cars II (ACC II) program. The ACC II standards protect public health by gradually phasing out the sale of new gas cars and expanding consumer choice for zero-emission vehicles.

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. — The Sierra Club announced a settlement with a major warehouse developer today that will require rapid transitions to electric truck fleets years ahead of state mandates. The agreement, which resolves California Environmental Quality Act claims, represents the strongest clean fleet requirements the Sierra Club has ever achieved in a warehouse settlement.

Nearly a year after the historic decision by President Biden and Department of Energy Secretary Granholm to pause consideration of new and pending liquefied methane gas, known as LNG, export applications, the DOE has released updated analysis underpinning the criteria used to make a public interest determination for these applications. The studies were released as final, and there will be a 60-day public comment period that will inform the implementation of the studies.

Salt Lake City, UT – On Monday evening, December 9, 2024, Utahns rallied outside the Heber Wells Building and packed the Public Service Commission’s hearing to oppose Rocky Mountain Power’s proposed rate hike. The increase, which would subsidize fossil fuel reliance, shift wildfire costs onto ratepayers, and would burden families with higher bills, drew sharp criticism from residents who didn’t mince words when they called for the utility’s accountability, and demanded clean energy solutions.

Milwaukee, WISCONSIN – The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Loans Program Office (LPO) has announced a conditional commitment for an Energy Infrastructure Reinvestment (EIR) loan guarantee of up to $2.5 billion to We Energies / Wisconsin Electric Power Company (WEPCO) to support a portfolio of clean energy and storage projects in Wisconsin. LPO’s EIR program was created under the Inflation Reduction Act to support utilities and companies in retooling, replacing, or repowering outdated fossil infrastructure.
