Hartford, CT. — Despite growing concerns over municipal solid waste disposal, the 2026 legislative session failed to pass any bills that effectively address waste reduction. As out-of-state landfills reach capacity and aging incinerators shut down, municipalities are facing rising tipping fees. These increases are driven not only by disposal rates, but also by the increasing cost of transporting waste hundreds of miles across state lines.

ATLANTA - After two days of testimony from experts and advocates, it’s clear the Georgia Public Service Commission must find new ways to protect ratepayers from excessive fuel costs incurred by Georgia Power.

In the hearing, three clean energy organizations urged the Commission to reform the way Georgia Power charges customers for the power plant fuel that forms a large part of customer bills.

The Department of the Interior announced today that it intends to transfer approximately 1.4 million acres of national public lands in Alaska’s Dalton Utility Corridor to the State of Alaska. The transfer follows the Trump administration’s unlawful earlier decision to revoke protections on more than two million acres of public lands north of the Yukon River and open them to mining and drilling activity.

Salt Lake City – Box Elder County Commissioners voted on Monday to approve the Stratos Data Center, a massive project set to become one of the largest in the country. The facility will be built in the Great Salt Lake basin, threatening a critical migratory bird habitat and an ecosystem that is already under significant strain. The facility is projected to increase Utah’s carbon emissions by 50%.
