Duluth, MN -- Sierra Club members and communities from around the Twin Ports are voicing their opposition to a proposed fracked gas power plant in Superior, Wisconsin. Investor-owned utilities Dairyland Power (WI) and Minnesota Power (MN) are seeking permission to build the plant and must receive approval from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Right now, the Wisconsin DNR is reviewing the utilities’ request for an air permit.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the WW II nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Sierra Club has joined with the Hibakusha Survivors in calling for the elimination of all nuclear weapons globally. Since 1945, nearly 100,000 nuclear weapons have been manufactured, costing trillions of dollars and destroying communities and the environment through the mining, refining, and weaponizing of uranium. The Sierra Club opposes the creation and testing of nuclear weapons and supports the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).
