San Francisco, CA -- Today, a federal judge ruled that the Trump administration violated federal law when it attempted to block the valuation rule. Finalized by the Obama administration in July of 2016, the rule closed unintentional accounting loopholes that allowed coal companies to profit at the expense of American taxpayers. The court ruled that the Trump administration’s unilateral attempt to block these common-sense fixes without any input from the public violated the Administrative Procedure Act.

Trump Administration Seeks to Allow Harley Davidson to Avoid Punishment for Clean Air Act Violations
Washington, DC -- Today, the Sierra Club submitted comments on Donald Trump’s Department of Justice revision of Harley Davidson’s punishment for Clean Air Act violations. Last year, the Obama Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Justice reached the consent decree to settle claims that the Harley Davidson installed “defeat devices” intended to evade pollution tests for Harley Davidson motorcycles.

CHARLESTON, WV -- Today, the Sierra Club and Appalachian Mountain Advocates formally requested that the Fayette County Commission deny the necessary zoning change to allow Mountain Valley Pipeline, LLC (MVP) to build a compressor station in their county. The MVP would transport fracked gas through West Virginia into Virginia. MVP wishes to build a compressor station for the pipeline on three parcels of land currently zoned for residential uses in Fayette County.
Springfield, IL -- Today, after it passed both state houses unanimously, Governor Rauner signed the Automatic Voter Registration bill, making Illinois the ninth state plus Washington, DC to take such action.
