Founded in California, the Sierra Club’s dedication and presence continues today. Our Wild America works to protect public lands, wildlife and water throughout the state. From the forests of the Sierra to the deserts of the Mojave, California’s national forests and magnificent public lands are some of the best known in the country. We work to defend our desert public lands, national monuments and wildlife that depend on these amazing landscapes.

In addition, forest management can play beneficial for forestland and nearby communities. This management must recognize the important roles of controlled fire, wilderness and clean water. Our Wild America is working to ensure that management practices acknowledge threats from climate disruption and logging. Our Inyo Forest Campaign is working to set a strong, protective precedent for national forests nationwide by engaging local, regional and national allies to push science-based conservation and wilderness protections where appropriate. Our campaign is dedicated to protection of national forests for future generations while working to increase access to them today.

As part of the Nature for All coalition, Our Wild America is working with a diverse coalition of local leaders to develop a new generation of environmental stewards to enjoy and care for our public lands. Together, we are working to increase access to California’s forests, rivers and parks and to make public lands more reflective of local communities.
