Celebrating David Riall Volunteer of the Month, August 2025

VOTM DAVID RIALL

We're excited to recognize David Riall as our August Volunteer of the Month! David, a Cherokee Ex-Com member and group representative for the Chapter Ex-Com, stepped up in a big way for our State Fair outreach efforts, bringing both creativity and hands-on dedication to help us connect with Tennesseans across the state.

David took the lead on designing our eye-catching advertisement for the State Fair magazine, ensuring our message reached many of the almost 800 thousand fairgoers before they even stepped foot on a ride. He also designed and handled the printing of our t-shirts for the Fair. They look and feel great!

But David didn't stop at the planning stage. He and his wife Dixie volunteered for two full days at our State Fair booth, talking with visitors, sharing information about our conservation work, and representing the Tennessee Chapter with enthusiasm and expertise.

David's commitment to Tennessee's natural spaces extends well beyond his work with Sierra Club. As Conservation Officer for the Tennessee Valley Canoe Club, he's been a steady voice for protecting our waterways. He's also been running TVCC's paddling school, introducing countless folks to the joy of getting out on Tennessee's beautiful rivers and lakes – and helping them understand why these waters are worth protecting.

A special thanks goes out to Dixie Riall as well. It's always wonderful when we see families working together to protect the places we all love.

Thanks, David, for your creativity, your time, and your ongoing dedication to conservation in Tennessee. Volunteers like you make all the difference in our work to Explore, Enjoy and Protect Tennessee!
