Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) are pollutants found in our air, water soil, and food. They are not regulated at the tiny doses that have been associated with harmful effects. Aquatic creatures in particular have been affected, but other forms of life, even humans, appear to be affected. Concerns range from developmental abnormalities and endocrine dispruption to neurological dmaage. The CEC Factsheet describes some of the more common ones and suggests ways to avoid harm by selecting safer alternatives.
