Federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to host offshore wind community engagement dialogue events March 21, 22 and 24, 2022.
To help meet the Biden-Harris administration’s target to deploy 30 gigawatts of offshore wind energy by 2030, the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is hosting three dialogue events to learn how best to engage underserved communities in its wind decision-making process. Community-based organization leaders, academics, local government officials, and others working at the intersection of offshore wind and community engagement are encouraged to participate.
The dialogue meetings are March 21, 22 and 24; each from 10:30 am to 12 pm; each with the same agenda. The links to register for each event are below:

Key topics to be explored during the dialogues include the following:
-
Engagement: Ways to make engagement valuable and accessible for participants and their communities and how to reduce barriers and burdens to participation
-
Benefits: Ways to ensure the benefits of offshore wind are shared equitably with underserved communities
-
Impacts: Ways to better identify and address the impacts of offshore wind on underserved communities
BOEM plans to use feedback from these dialogues to inform an Engagement Strategy used to guide their work with underserved communities along the coast as they plan for future Atlantic offshore wind projects.
