RELEASE: Governor Spanberger Brings Virginia into U.S. Climate Alliance with Executive Directive 3

Richmond, VA –Governor Abigail Spanberger issued Executive Directive 3 to bring Virginia into the U.S. Climate Alliance—a bipartisan coalition of states committed to advancing the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and accelerating clean energy solutions. By joining the Alliance, Virginia demonstrates its commitment to cutting climate pollution, strengthening resilience, and working alongside other states to meet the urgency of the climate crisis.
 

In response, Connor Kish, Director of the Sierra Club Virginia Chapter issued the following statement: 
 

“Governor Spanberger’s decision to join the U.S. Climate Alliance is a powerful step forward for Virginia,” said Sierra Club Virginia Chapter Director Connor Kish. “We’re grateful for this leadership and the clear signal that Virginia is ready to meet the moment. This commitment keeps our Commonwealth on a path toward cleaner energy, healthier communities, and a future where we lead—not lag—on climate action. We look forward to continuing to work with the Governor’s administration to lower pollution for our communities.”
