Volunteer Opportunities

If you would like to participate in the organization of this march, there are many different roles in which you could fill. Every role is as important as the last so don’t feel as if you are doing less or more than others. It is good to first look at your schedule and availability before determining which role suits you the best. To see which volunteer opportunity best suits you, see the list here!

Sample Phone Script

Throughout our volunteering service there are many different roles in which you could choose, but one of the most important roles is that of the role of Phone Banker. Although time consuming, phone banking is of the utmost importance to our People’s Climate March. In order to pool volunteer’s and participants phone banking is not only encouraged, but necessary. To encourage more people to participate in phone banking we have made It easier on you by creating sample phone scripts. In these scripts, it gives you a rundown on what to say and how to respond if you decide that phone banking is right for you!

You can see these sample phone scripts here! and here!

Phone Banking (didn’t have information on this topic) (had a script to try and recruit phone bankers)

If you decide to become a phone banker than you may come across the problem of who to call, and since cold calling isn’t the most lucrative activity we have made it simpler for you. In general, you will be able to find fellow activists or people whom have volunteered in the past to be the most likely to cooperate. So we have created a system in which we display the names and numbers of people whom we believe will want to participate. This does not mean that you can’t cold call or contact people absent on the recommended list, but it is a good starting point on how to go about recruiting people. If you still have problems with acquiring numbers you can contact your state Phone Banking Lead whose information is provided below. Along with this we provide a script in which you can phone bank for potential phone bankers whom might also have a list of interested individuals, every bit helps!

People’s Climate March Meeting

Once you have provided interest from a number of people whom want to attend/volunteer you will most likely want to host or attend a local People’s Climate March Meeting. This meeting should help with not only the organization of your area’s efforts, but also be instrumental in building momentum and excitement within your local People’s Climate March group. Since holding such a meeting can be time consuming and intimidating, we have yet again made things simpler for you! We have provided a sample agenda in which you can cover a wide range of topics regarding the People’s Climate March in an hour and thirty-minute segment. This is important not only to keep people informed, but to do so in a timely manner as we presume everyone has a busy schedule. It is recommended that you hold such an event either after normal work hours or on the weekends to allow as many interested individuals to attend.

State Contact Leads

Throughout your journey into the People’s Climate March you may have additional questions that may be too specific for this website or any additional document to answer. If that is the case, we have provided a document in which we give you the contact information for the all of the Virginia State People’s Climate March Leads. If you have specific questions it is good to ask the Lead in which is in charge of the area in which you have a question, comment, or concern. Even new Ideas are helpful! Do not feel as if you are a bother, every lead would love to help out in whatever way we can! Our job is to make things easier on you! Virginia People’s Climate March Toolkit

If this website has not already answered or helped your concern/question we have provided an in-depth toolkit to help you step by step in your journey to the People’s Climate March! It gives a brief background as well as a step by step template in order for you to organize your efforts as easily and successfully as possible.

National People’s Climate Movement

If your concerns are more broad than the state of Virginia then I have provided links below in which you can view not only the National People’s Climate Movement, but also the website to past events in which we are hoping to duplicate. We are but one cog in a huge humanitarian effort in which ecological and social justice are key. The effects of this movement are in no means local, but are to encourage a national perspective.
