Washington State Voters’ Guide 2020

Washington State has had many years of mail-in ballot voting, starting with permanent absentee ballots starting in 1991!  Since 2019, we're also had same-day voter registration which means that if you are newly eligible to vote or haven’t registered in the past, you have up until November 3 to register. Head over to https://www.sos.wa.gov/elections/voters for the most up to date information.

What are the other key dates for this election?

  • October 16: Start of an 18-day voting period (through Election Day). Ballots are mailed out and Accessible Voting Units (AVUs) are available at voting centers.
  • October 26: Online and mail registrations must be received 8 days before Election Day.
  • November 3: Deadline for Washington State voter registration or updates (in person only).
  • November 3: General Election


How do I register to vote?

How do I check my voter registration?
Even if you think your voter registration is up to date please check to make sure your and that no changes have been made that might affect you.  The changes might include moving of ballot boxes or your elections office. To check your voter registration, click here.

Can I check to see if my ballot was received?
Yes! Go to your county’s elections page and you can confirm your ballot was received and counted.

Accessibility?
If it is best for you to vote in person for language, visual, or other accessibility reasons you can find vote accessible devices in person at a local elections office or voting center until 8:00 p.m. on November 3.  Local elections offices can be found here: https://www.sos.wa.gov/elections/viewauditors.aspx. Always check in advance and have a plan in place to make sure you are able to get to a local elections office or voting center with plenty of time just in case there are lines.
