Gerry Pollet has been a longtime supporter of communities facing serious environmental problems. Since 1987, he has led efforts to clean up nuclear waste at Hanford, partnering with the Yakama Nation. In Seattle, he has raised awareness about radioactive contamination at Magnuson Park and pollution of Lake Washington from the demolition of the old 520 bridge.
