Learn through Fun with Kicking Gas Video
Spread the word about how the Kicking Gas program helps people make the move from fossil fuels to healthy electric energy. A free lesson plan uses the attached animated video as a starting point for teaching about clean energy, public health and how we can all take action for the environment. It is designed for learners from 3rd to 12th grade, and educators can download it by signing up for the Kicking Gas newsletter. |

Your Feedback for State Climate Plan
The Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) serves as a roadmap for reducing emissions and building a sustainable future. The public comment period has begun and extends until August 22. Your feedback can include such topics as which greenhouse gas reduction measures should be prioritized, how should they be implemented, and what regional considerations should be included.

Island County is accepting public comments on the Comprehensive Plan through July 14. The Whidbey Environmental Action Network (WEAN) encourages Island County citizens to ask county planners to designate ecosystems as climate resilience resources and to plan for their protection. |

Forest Protection Webinar Series Begins

The Pacific Northwest Forest Climate Alliance and partners are hosting a three part webinar series examining the extreme ways federal forests are under attack by the Trump administration and what it means for efforts to preserve a healthy environment and a livable climate.
The July webinar will examine the impacts of the Fix our Forests Act. The second and third webinars will continue to bring together experts to analyze administrative actions and help us understand where to go from here. |

The League of Women Voters of Snohomish County and the 2025 Forum Partnership Coalition offer a candidate forum series for the primary elections coming up. Voters will make decisions on a variety of local positions that affect daily lives. Edmonds Marsh Restoration News

After reviewing a grant pre-proposal prepared by the Edmonds Marsh Estuary Associates and submitted by the City of Edmonds, the National Coastal Resilience Fund team sent a letter of congratulations on being chosen for submission of a full grant proposal.
If awarded, the grant would build on previous work and deliver a flood risk and vulnerability assessment, a community selected restoration and conceptual design, a land appraisal, a cultural resources site study, restoration cost estimates and a plan for future project funding, plus a 30% preliminary design. |

Whidbey Camano Land Trust Addition
A generous donation has expanded the Lagoon Point Community Forest. The 5 acre property hosts a beautiful, healthy forest of Western Hemlock and Douglas Fir, towering above a lush understory of salmonberry and sword ferns. The property, which includes wetlands along a seasonal stream, is located within a critical wildlife corridor. |

Snohomish County Forest Lands
A sustainable forest plan is in the works and will need your support soon. Commissioner of Public Lands Upthegrove will need tremendous grassroots support from the public and county council since the Department of Natural Resources Board is not on his side. Now is a good time to ask how we should manage the forests to serve the best interests of local communities and the Tribes in Snohomish County. |
