| | The Columbia Basin Restoration Initiative, a plan led by Tribal nations and regional leaders, lays out a real path to bring salmon back. Let your congressional delegation know you care about salmon and healthy rivers. Ask them to support the plan and secure funding to restore salmon habitat, which also honors Tribal rights and traditions, protects fishing and recreation jobs, and strengthens the entire ecosystem. |

| Support the Green Amendment Tour |
| | The Green Amendment Tour aims to educate residents and legislators about the values of a Green Amendment for Washington state and to talk about how people can get involved. The kickoff event will be in Seattle on September 14. This will launch a statewide education and advocacy town hall tour seeking to secure constitutional protection for environmental rights in the state constitution. |

Nature lovers, community groups, families, and anyone with an interest in the spectacular can enjoy an evening on the lawn to watch the swifts descend into their evening chimney roost.
While waiting for the swifts to appear around sunset, there will be children's activities, vendor booths, food, and a presentation in the Wagner Center at 6 pm. |

| This 4.5 mile hike takes you through a beautiful legacy forest with cedars and firs towering over a rich understory of ferns, shrubs and mosses.
Named "Tuckered Out," this forest is a high priority for protection by concerned groups such as the Center for Responsible Forestry and the Legacy Forest Defense Coalition.
Leaders from those groups want to share with you ways you can help protect this rare structurally complex forest from logging. |

| August Sierra Club Outing in Review |
| On Saturday, August 16, a group of about a dozen took a beautiful short hike at Saint Edward State Park - an often forgotten gem of a park on the shore of Lake Washington.
Greeted by a park ranger who provided a historical perspective, the group hiked from the lodge down to the shore of the lake and made their way back to the starting point by another route. |

Elie Wiesel
Elie Wiesel was a Holocaust survivor whose parents and sister tragically died in Nazi concentration camps, though he himself was liberated in 1945. Upon being freed, Wiesel went on to become an inspirational political activist and author.
