You're Invited: Join the 11th Annual National Drive Electric Week

After an exciting announcement from President Biden on a plan to make 50 percent of new cars electric by 2030, I recently rented an electric vehicle (EV) to see what all the hype was about. I was shocked by how fun it was to drive -- all while not polluting our air and climate.

Have you wondered what electric vehicles are like, given how much they’ve been in the media lately? Good news: There are in-person and virtual National Drive Electric Week (NDEW) events in communities across the country next week!

Transportation is the largest source of climate-disrupting pollution in the US, In order to tackle its massive carbon footprint, we need to invest in multiple solutions. This includes reliable and accessible public transit and creating better infrastructure for safer biking and walking.

For those who drive, we must eliminate all gas-guzzling cars and trucks by transitioning to pollution-free vehicles. To celebrate our progress toward this goal, there will be electric vehicles on display at an event near you for National Drive Electric Week, the 11th annual nationwide celebration of EVs!

Electric vehicles put more money back into your pocket and benefit our local communities and the climate, so that’s definitely something to cheer about.

That's why we're partnering with Plug In America, Electric Auto Association, and EV Hybrid Noire to invite you to join events from September 25 to October 3. Events are hosted by local volunteers, so show them some love and support clean air and a thriving community.

By attending a National Drive Electric Week event, you'll have the opportunity to meet owners of electric vehicles, learn about their great experience driving them, and join others at a fun and family-friendly celebration. All in-person events are outdoors, and they will require masks and social distancing. They will follow local and state COVID safety guidelines, as well as additional guidelines from NDEW organizers to ensure a safe event.

We’ll see you there!
