Earth Hour Radio Show

Join us on every first Wednesday of the month, 12:15 PM, KAFM (88.1 in Grand Junction) for the Earth Hour Radio Show, where members of our group interview local community activists about their efforts to help make this a sustainable planet.

Our Kiosks are up !

The Colorado Sierra Club's Western Slope Group  worked closely with the BLM and an artist for three years to design and install two, three-paneled, roofed educational kiosks at local trailheads. The first kiosk educates locals and visitors about prairie dogs and their importance in our ecosystem. A small gathering was held at the site in June 2024 celebrating the completion of the project, and the local news station covered the story!

Janet Wyatt, Group Chair, shared "We are so proud of this accomplishment and how we will be educating the public on our public lands. Sometimes it is a slow process getting a worthy cause across the finish line, but we did it!"

 

 The second kiosk  focuses on desert riparian habitat and is installed in Rabbit Valley at the MacDonald Creek Trailhead. More information about this kiosk is in the Projects/Blog section of this website.  

                                          

Earth/Arbor Day, April 26th, 2024, 11-5 at Lincoln Park

We will have a booth at this event, and are planning to promote native plants for pollinators. We will have educational handouts, seed packets and native plants to give away. Hope to see you there!
