Rep. Bob Trammell has been serving as the State House Minority Leader, where he has been a critical voice in advancing Sierra Club’s agenda and in standing in the way of legislation that would endanger the environment. In just this most recent legislative session, Bob played a central role in the fight for smarter policy on several issues:
- Disposing toxic coal ash safely and away from exposure to Georgians;
- Protecting the public from industrial releases of ethylene oxide, a known carcinogen; and
- Blocking the passage of the industrial hog farm bill that would have devastating consequences to water and air quality in Georgia.
Rep. Trammell is one of the most important voices in the legislature for environmentalists, and because he is effective, he is also a political target. He has richly earned his Sierra Club endorsement and the enthusiastic support of our membership.
