This sweepstakes ("Promotion") is sponsored by the Sierra Club, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization headquartered at 2101 Webster St Suite 1300, Oakland, CA 94612
1. PROMOTION PERIOD
The Promotion begins at 12:00:01 A.M. Pacific Daylight Time on July 15, 2026 and ends at 11:59:59 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time on August 14, 2026 (the “Promotion Period”). Only entries received during the Promotion Period will be eligible.
2. ELIGIBILITY:
This Promotion is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) states of the United States and the District of Columbia (excluding Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories) who are 18 years of age or older (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, whichever is older) at the time of entry. Employees, officers, and directors of Sierra Club, and their immediate family members or persons living in the same household are not eligible to enter or win. Void where prohibited by law. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.
3. HOW TO ENTER:
There are two methods of entry:
- Donation Entry: Individuals who make a donation of $10 or more through one of Sierra Clubs designated sweepstakes donation forms during the Promotion Period will automatically receive one (1) entry into the Promotion. Donating does not increase your chances of winning.
OR - Alternative Method of Entry: To enter without a donation, send a postcard (only) with your name, address, phone number, email address and mail to: 2026 Sierra Club Outings Sweepstakes, Attn. Member Care, Sierra Club, 2101 Webster Street, Suite 1300, Oakland, CA 94612. Each postcard must be mailed individually. All mail-in entries must be postmarked between 7/15/26 and 8/14/26 and received by 8/17/26. You will receive one (1) entry into the Promotion. Limit one (1) free entry per person.
(a) Eligible entrants must enter via one of the methods described above. There is a limit of one entry per person regardless of method. Multiple entries submitted by a single person are void. Incomplete entries are void. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned, and proof of online entry will not be deemed to be proof of receipt of entry by the Sierra Club. All entrants and entries are subject to verification by the Sierra Club.
(b) No mechanically reproduced, software-generated or other automated multiple entries permitted. Sierra Club will not be responsible for incomplete, lost, late, misdirected or illegible entries or for failure to receive entries due to transmission failures or technical failures of any kind, including, without limitation, the malfunctioning of any network, hardware or software, whether originating with sender or Sierra Club, or for any human error, lost/delayed data transmission, or any other error or malfunction. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void.
(c) By participating, you agree that you shall not upload, post or transmit any materials which contain any computer viruses, Easter eggs, worms, Trojan Horses or other harmful components or programming routines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data or personal information.
(d) In the event of a dispute, all e-mail entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the owner of the e-mail account from which they were sent. For these purposes, an e-mail account holder shall mean the natural person assigned to such e-mail account by the Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with such e-mail account.
(e) All entries become the property of the Sierra Club. Except where prohibited by law, by entering this promotion, you consent to being placed on an e-mail mailing list to receive information from Sierra Club and for other purposes in accordance with the Sierra Club’s privacy policy.
4. PRIZE:
After the Promotion Period is over, one (1) grand prize will be awarded. The prize consists of a voucher good for two spots on a Sierra Club Outings program trip of their choosing. Conditions for trip selection include:
- The selected trip must take place entirely within the United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii).
- The listed price of the selected trip will not exceed $4,000 per participant.
- The trip departure date may be no later than August 14, 2027.
- The selected trip must be approved by Sierra Club Outings program staff.
The winner and guest are responsible for:
- Obtaining any necessary identification and travel documents.
- Winner and guest must be of suitable level of health, fitness, skill, and ability to participate in the selected Sierra Club Outing (questions pertaining to suitability of health should be directed to winner’s and guest’s own personal medical provider).
- Any expenses not explicitly listed in the selected trip’s online description (brochure) found on outings.sierraclub.org are the sole responsibility of the winner and their guest. This includes, but is not limited to, airfare, incidentals, and additional lodging or transportation,
Sierra Club reserves the right to reject a selection in its sole discretion if the winner and/or guest do not pass the screening assessment administered by the trip leader.
Approximate Retail Value (ARV) of the prize will vary depending on the winner's selected Sierra Club Outing but is estimated not to exceed $8,000. Prize is non-assignable, non-transferable, non-refundable, and may not be exchanged for cash. No substitution of the prize or any prize component is permitted, except at Sierra Club’s sole discretion. Sierra Club reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if any part of the prize becomes unavailable, and will notify the winner of such substitutions. The winner is solely responsible for reporting and payment of any taxes on the prize. The value of the prize is taxable.
The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received during the Promotion.
Prize must be redeemed by August 14, 2027.
5. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION:
On or before August 17, 2026, Sierra Club will randomly select one (1) potential winner from all eligible entries using a randomized Excel formula. The potential winner will be notified by email by August 21, 2026, using the contact information provided at the time of entry. Winner may waive right to receive the prize.
If the selected winner does not respond within three (3) full business days after Sierra Club’s initial outreach, or if the winner is found ineligible or otherwise fails to comply with these Official Rules, Sierra Club may, at its sole discretion, select an alternate winner from the remaining eligible entries, using the randomized Excel formula noted above.
Sierra Club may, at its option, conduct a background check on each potential winner. Sierra Club reserves the right to disqualify any potential winner from receiving any prize based on such background check if Sierra Club determines, in its sole discretion that awarding any prize to such potential winner could result in a safety or security risk to any person or persons, or could result in the disruption of any event associated with the promotion. The winner must identify potential guests to Sierra Club within thirty (30) days of the date of notification and Sierra Club may, at its option, conduct the same background check and process applicable to potential winners. Sierra Club reserves the right to disqualify any potential guest in its sole discretion.
The winner and his or her guest may be required to complete (as applicable) an affidavit of eligibility, a liability release, a publicity release (except where prohibited by law), and a background check consent form, all of which must be returned within five (5) days of the date of notification. Failure to timely identify a potential guest or to timely sign and return any required affidavits, releases and consent forms, or failure to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules, may, at the sole discretion of Sierra Club, result in a winner’s disqualification, the forfeiture of his or her interest in the prize, and the award of the prize to an alternate winner.
6. GENERAL CONDITIONS:
By entering this Promotion, entrants agree to abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sierra Club, which are final and binding. The Sierra Club reserves the right to disqualify any individual found tampering with the entry process or acting in violation of these rules or in a disruptive manner, as noted above.
7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND GENERAL RELEASE:
By entering this Promotion, you release Sierra Club and its its affiliates, and their respective directors, trustees, officers, employees and agents, and any other person associated with the promotion or the related event (collectively, “Released Parties”), from any liability whatsoever, and waive any and all causes of action, related to any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with: (i) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Promotion; (ii) unauthorized human intervention, technical or human error in any part of the entry process or which may occur in the administration of the Promotion or the processing of entries; (iii) or delivery, misdelivery, acceptance, possession, use of or inability to use any prize (including, without limitation, claims, costs, injuries, losses and damages related to personal injuries, death, damage to or destruction of property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation or portrayal in a false light, whether intentional or unintentional), whether under a theory of contract, tort (including negligence), warranty or other theory from entrant’s participation in the Promotion.

By entering, you agree to the Sierra Club’s collection and use of your personal information for the purpose of administering this Promotion and as otherwise permitted in accordance with Sierra Club’s Privacy Policy, available at https://www.sierraclub.org/privacy.
9. DISPUTES AND GOVERNING LAW:
This Promotion and these Official Rules shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without reference to its conflicts of law provisions. By participating in the Promotion, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of Sierra Club regarding the selection of the winner and all other aspects of the sweepstakes, which are final and binding in all respects.
The Sierra Club reserves the right to change these Official Rules at any time, in its sole discretion, and to suspend or cancel the Promotion or any entrant’s participation in the promotion should viruses, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes beyond Sierra Club’s control affect the administration, security or proper execution of the promotion, or Sierra Club otherwise becomes (as determined in its sole discretion) incapable of running the promotion as planned. Entrants who violate these Official Rules, violate any law, rule or regulation in connection with participation in the Promotion, tamper with the operation of the promotion or engage in any conduct that is detrimental or unfair to Sierra Club, the Promotion or any other entrant (in each case as determined in Sierra Club’s sole discretion) are subject to disqualification from entry into the Promotion. Sierra Club reserves the right to lock out persons whose eligibility is in question or who have been disqualified or are otherwise ineligible to enter the Promotion.
Entrants agree that any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Promotion shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by binding arbitration under the Commercial Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association.
