Duane Arnold Solar farm – clean sustainable 21^st century power

The Sierra Club supports the Duane Arnold Solar project being proposed by NextEra Energy and and Alliant Energy at Palo, Iowa.

• The solar farm will provide clean renewable energy to Alliant's customers.  Solar power is cheaper than nuclear, coal, and gas power.  Plus it has no carbon emissions and no other harmful toxic emissions, including mercury, lead, and cadmium.
• Further, the landowners have voluntarily agreed to host the solar panels.
• The Linn County, Iowa, ordinance on solar farms places conditions on solar projects being built in the county so that there will be no adverse environmental impacts.
• This project provides great benefits to Iowans.  Plus the project helps Linn County meet its sustainability goals.
