First funnel sidelines legislation
On March 7, legislation that has not been forwarded by a Senate or House committee is sidelined for the current legislative session. They say that bills are never dead until the final gavel falls. What that means is that legislation can be moved forward as amendments to other bills.
Some of the bills that were sidelined include:
- Several carbon dioxide pipeline bills that were introduced in the Senate were sidelined - SF92, SF225, SF239, SF74, SF95, SF136, SF228, SF224, SF229 - bills that Sierra Club supported.
- The bill that would repeal the I-Will 3/8 cent sales tax was sidelined - SJR6. Sierra Club opposed this bill.
- A bill that would allow loggers to submit a proposal to log in the state parks was sidelined - HF580. The Sierra Club opposed this bill.
- HF 195 which would put the black bear on the furbearer list was sidelined. The Sierra Club supported this bill.
- A bill that would regulate the manufacture and distribution of products containing PFAS was sidelined. The Sierra Club supported this bill.
- HF679 which would allow cities and counties to regulate single-use plastic bags was sidelined. The Sierra Club supported this bill.
The next funnel is April 4, where more of the bills will be sidelined.
