Join the Resistance!

The first couple of months under the new federal administration have shaken democracy to its core. As a result, millions of Americans are eager to take meaningful, impactful action, and the Sierra Club is built for this moment. Our members and supporters can show the world that there is a massive, united, progressive force that will not remain silent under President Trump’s extreme agenda of environmental destruction and human rights violations.

We're organizing in our communities, with partner organizations and other stakeholders. We know it is possible to advance renewable energy solutions, advocate for clean air, land and water, protect wildlife and natural spaces, and engage with the state legislature in uncertain and politically challenging  times. Here are a few ways you can join the resistance movement.

  • Join Sierra Club’s Monthly Action Hours to connect with other environmentalists across the nation.  Hear the latest updates and opportunities to organize locally.
  • Connect with community and family members, especially those who hold different viewpoints but are open to dialogue. Sharing facts helps dispel misinformation. These executive orders and other actions hurt everyone.
  • Continue calling your elected officials and showing up at their offices, coffee hours, and other public engagement opportunities to ensure your voice is heard.
  • Get involved with Sierra Club Michigan’s political and legislative work, like our upcoming lobby day, and other volunteer programs. We have pathways  to resistance for  all interests, including but not limited to:
    • Outings Leadership and Support Teams: Lead or support fun outdoor activities in your area.
    • The Garden Club: Work on restoring native ecosystems and  pollinator protections and help maintain community green spaces.
    • Sierra Club Military Outdoors: Lead or support outings and events for veterans, their families, and active military. Support policy and legislation to guarantee equitable access to the outdoors for veterans.
