I was down in Charlotte for the final stretch of this incredible primary election cycle – and I have a message to pass along from our victorious endorsed candidates for the N.C. House, Ms. Veleria Levy and the Rev. Dr. Rodney Sadler:
THANK YOU!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the behind-the-scenes work of our endorsement process.
Volunteers with the N.C. Sierra Club's Political Committee sent out questionnaires and interviewed candidates in record time, allowing the Chapter to make our always-influential endorsements well in advance of the primary. This also gave the candidates an early boost and gave us time to mobilize our members to volunteer for our N.C. House candidates. Without you, none of what we accomplished this primary election cycle would have been possible.
Thank you to all the Sierra Club members who contributed to the NC Chapter's Political Action Committee.
Your donations helped us to offer much-needed funds to these campaigns early on, and allowed the Chapter to provide vital staff support for the final stretch of the election cycle.
Thank you to everyone who showed up to recruit volunteers for our endorsed candidates.
Last month, a few dozen people joined the Chapter’s volunteer recruitment phone banks. Our virtual events brought folks together from Asheville to Greenville to call members who live closer to our endorsed candidates and encourage them to get involved with their campaigns. Our in-person events in Chapel Hill and Charlotte brought recent recruits together with longtime members for phone calling festivities.
Those events allowed us to connect with members who were eager to help support our endorsed candidates.
Thank you to everyone who turned out to volunteer for our endorsed candidates.
During early voting, volunteers like Matthew and Kevin (pictured) made sure our endorsed candidates were well-represented at busy polling places. And once early voting ended, a team of Sierra Club volunteers knocked doors in two precincts to contact all the supporters who’d not yet voted and help them make a plan to vote on Election Day.
And of course, thank you to everyone who voted for our endorsed candidates in these primaries.
Each and everyone one of you helped our endorsed candidates to win – and each of you helped our Chapter make good on our promise to hold lawmakers accountable for their bad votes on Senate Bill 266 last summer. Levy and Sadler don't face opponents in the November general election, meaning they have effectively won those seats for the 2027-28 General Assembly.
And for that, I join our newly elected members of the NC House in saying thank you!
P.S.: Would you like to get more involved in the Chapter’s electoral activities? Please drop me an email, I’d love to hear from you!
