About Us
The Southeastern PA Group (SPG) of the Sierra Club is part of the Pennsylvania State Chapter. The SPG area is the 5 counties surrounding Philadelphia.

Sierra Club's governance structure is as follows (from top down): The National Organization; State Chapters; and Groups within those chapters, defined by geographic boundaries. SPG, like all Sierra Club Groups operates at the grassroots level and is run solely by volunteers.
Executive Committe
Elected by area Sierra Club members to 2 year terms, the Executive Committee of SPG meets once a month to discuss the developments of the various committees, finances and upcoming opportunities. The latest SPG ExCom bylaws are HERE
Current chair assignments are:

Lisa Anzalone - Chair, Membership Chair
ExCom member (term ends Dec 2026)
Lisa Anzalone lives in West Goshen Township, PA in Chester County. Currently, she serves as PA Sierra Club PAC Treasurer, Compliance Officer, and Chapter Treasurer. Lisa is an IT Senior Project Manager and Systems Analyst at the University of Pennsylvania for the past 16 years. Prior to that, she was a consultant implementing SAP software.
One of her goals is to familiarize and engage our youth in the Sierra Club’s mission and purpose. She will help recruit volunteers to provide workshops and presentations at local middle and high schools. Retaining the current members and recruiting new members to bolster our volunteer-led organization is another important goal, especially for 2025.
As an Eco-Rep at the University of Pennsylvania, she helped to lead a Power Down Challenge across the campus and her building won! In her spare time, she collects used toner cartridges across campus and recycles them, with the proceeds going to the Fugett-Malawi Project. The monies raised were used to provide clean drinking water in a village in Malawi.
Her love of preserved land surfaced during COVID when Lisa discovered just how many beautiful preserves and nature areas existed within a short distance from her home. She became a certified Outings Lead in 2024 and plans to lead several hikes during 2025. She frequently visits many preserves and trails and cleans up litter each visit.

David volunteers with Philly Food Rescue and the Citizens Corp of Delaware County, and actively supports Chester Residents Concerned for Quality Living (CRCQL, pron. Circle). He is active as a player in the Yes AND... Playback Theatre troupe, and as a congregant of Mishkan Shalom Synagogue in Manayunk. David's activism is centered on his character The SOB of the Society of Oligarch Billionaires, "Greed Speaking Power to Truth Since 2019." After the timely demise of Tuesdays With(out) Toomey rallies, The SOB is seeking new venues, rallies, and outlets for his satirically-veiled progressive rants. He is currently posting Tiktok videos, and learning songwriting as a Randy Rainbow wannabe.
A retired IT technical writer, David lives in Swarthmore, PA, near a tributary of Crum Creek, which has held him in its meandering grip since childhood. He is an engaged and playful grandfather, father, and husband, and has walked many miles with his wife Sandy since the pandemic began in 2019. He looks forward to resuming backpacking and more rugged hikes.

I have lived in the Elkins Park, PA area for 30 years, with my three boys who are now off with lives and children of their own. In that position, as part of The Friends of High School Park’s non-profit organization, I am charged with the park’s stewardship, its development, volunteer coordination, committee’s budgets, preparation of management, annual reports and grant applications.
