On Sierra Club Outings, all are welcome to explore, enjoy, and protect nature with us across the Commonwealth. Our outings can include day hikes, overnight paddling trips, community building, skiing, bird-watching, conservation activities and bike tours. Led by local Outings volunteers, they take place in some of our most remote state parks and on the streets of our most populated cities. We aim to reduce barriers and expand access for all people to explore and enjoy nature. Best of all, they are free or at no cost to our participants.
Do you have an issue you'd like to bring more attention to? Would a 'field trip', a clean-up, a public hike, help draw attention to the issue? Please let us know. We are always interested in new ideas for an Outing!
REQUEST AN OUTING
If the goals and ideals of The Pennsylvania Local Outings program appeal to you, consider joining our team of volunteer outings leaders. Every leader is trained through our Outings Leader Training and mentored by an existing leader before they are certified. While we ask you lead at least 2 outings a year, you choose what kind of outings you want to lead!

Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) is an entity of the Sierra Club that works with partner agencies to provide youth with free outdoor experiences within the city and beyond. Volunteer ICO leaders are certified and specially trained in recreational, outdoor, and safety skills, and are committed to safe, appropriate, welcoming outdoor experiences for all.
