Glen Allen, VA -- Tonight, Sierra Club-endorsed candidate Abigail Spanberger won her election to become the next representative for Virginia’s 7th District. Sierra Club members and supporters helped get out the vote for Spanberger as part of its Victory Corps program, a nationwide coordinated effort that embeds staff on state and federal campaigns around the country.
In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:
“The Sierra Club is proud to congratulate climate champion Abigail Spanberger on their victory. Spanberger’s victory tonight is a reminder that the American people want Congress to protect our communities from polluters, not enrich them; to invest in clean energy, not fossil fuels; and to hold Donald Trump and his administration accountable. We look forward to working with Abigail to tackle the climate crisis, create clean energy jobs, and protect our clean air and water.”
