WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, the Republican-controlled Senate voted against an effort to reject the Trump Administration’s repeal and replacement of the Clean Power Plan.

In response, Sierra Club Legislative Director Melinda Pierce released the following statement:

"Donald Trump’s attempt to repeal the Clean Power Plan and replace it with his deadly dirty power scam undermines real climate action and puts the health of millions at risk. We applaud the Senators who acted to curb runaway pollution and the climate crisis by rejecting the Trump Administration’s repeal of the Clean Power Plan and supporting the resolution introduced by Senator Cardin.  Opposing this resolution means rubber stamping Trump’s deadly and dangerous anti-climate agenda and siding with corporate polluters rather than the public."
