WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) proposed new tax guidance, providing tax credits for up to 70% of offshore wind and other clean energy projects.

There will be a 60-day public comment period on this Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM).

In response to the proposal, Sierra Club Deputy Legislative Director Xavier Boatright released the following statement:

“This guidance from the Biden-Harris Administration will help to expand clean energy projects – particularly for offshore wind and battery storage – across the nation. The power of the Inflation Reduction Act is at work, expanding renewable energy and increasing good-paying clean energy jobs.”
