Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Treasury and the IRS has announced final rules for technology-neutral clean energy credits under the Inflation Reduction Act to bolster the clean energy boom across the country. The two tax credits will lower costs for families, create high-quality jobs within the green economy, and improve public health by investing in more clean energy projects across the country.
In response, Sierra Club’s Chief Energy Officer Holly Bender issued the following statement:
“The tax credits included in the Biden Administration's Inflation Reduction Act will continue to propel our nation towards a stronger clean energy economy, and a healthier future for the next generation.
“If Trump repeals these tax credits—which he has vowed to do—American families would face higher monthly bills, jobs would diminish across industries, and more communities would suffer the health consequences brought on by pollution. We are committed to defending the work that President Biden has done for our communities, and we will fight back against any attempt to walk back the progress we have made.”
