Sierra Club Statement on House Adoption of Trump Budget Reconciliation Framework

Washington, DC – Today, House Republicans adopted a FY2025 Budget Resolution that sets the stage for them to make dangerous cuts to essential services, sell off our public lands, and give even more huge tax breaks to billionaires and the fossil fuel industry.

In response, Sierra Club Director of Beyond Fossil Fuels Policy Mahyar Sorour released the following statement:

“Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress are now one step closer in their dangerous scheme to sell out working families, our economy, and our environment—all to give massive tax breaks and handouts to corporate polluters and their billionaire buddies. The budget framework they advanced today will make dangerous cuts to essential services, undermine our nation’s clean energy manufacturing boom, and attempt to sell our public lands off to the highest bidders. The Sierra Club and our millions of members and supporters will be watching this process closely and holding these elected leaders accountable. We will not allow them to sell out our people or our planet.”
