Washington, DC —Today, the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources voted to advance the nomination of Tristan Abbey to lead the Energy Information Administration (EIA) to the full Senate. All Democratic members except Senator King voted against Abbey's nomination. President Trump’s pick to run the Energy Information Administration (EIA) – our nation’s primary fuel and power forecasting agency – works for a think tank that bolsters fossil fuel interests over renewable alternatives.

Washington, DC - Today, Senate Republicans blocked an effort by Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Martin Heinrich (D-NM) to end the Trump executive order to declare a sham energy “emergency.” The Trump administration is seeking to disregard clean air and water safeguards to fast-track permits for fossil fuel development, despite the fact that the United States is already the largest oil producer and gas exporter in the world. At the same time, the executive order hampers America’s ability to generate clean, renewable energy.

Congress included this critical program in the Inflation Reduction Act to help protect our families and communities from harmful oil and gas pollution. The charge is a commonsense measure to cut excessive methane emissions from corporations that are the largest polluters, secure American energy, and create jobs.
