The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) submitted notice of its intent to file an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the retirement of the Cumberland Fossil Plant in Cumberland City, Tennessee. Through the upcoming EIS process, TVA will identify the timeline to retire the plant’s two coal units and if any replacement generation is needed.

This afternoon, after seven years of frontline community activism, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) passed the Warehouse Indirect Source Rule (ISR) to address the region’s serious air quality problems by cutting pollution from the trucks traveling to and from warehouses, electrifying warehouses, and creating local clean energy jobs. The ISR is the first step in eliminating toxic emissions from one of the nation’s largest and most profitable industries.

Today, the Dayton City Commission passed a resolution establishing a goal of powering their city with one hundred percent clean, renewable energy. The specifics of the resolution include securing or purchasing one hundred percent renewable energy for municipal electricity consumption by 2035, community-wide electricity supply by 2040, and all energy-use sectors including transportation by 2050.
