Today is the final day of the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative’s written public comment period ahead of the required joint review of the trilateral trade agreement between the United States, Mexico, and Canada, known as the USMCA. Sierra Club, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), League of Conservation Voters (LCV), and Industrious Labs submitted nearly eight thousand comments from supporters, as well as expert comments, supporting revisions to the deal that prioritize strong environmental protections and good, green jobs.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission released an Environmental Assessment for the methane gas pipeline Southeast Supply Enhancement Project, proposed for Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. The project is meant to move over 1.5 million dekatherms per day of gas and is the largest expansion of gas infrastructure currently proposed in the Southeast. The assessment claims to analyze the environmental impacts of the SSEP’s multiple sections of pipeline, massive gas compressor station expansions and additional infrastructure modifications.

TAMPA, Fla. - On Saturday, November 1, Tampa residents gathered outside The Dr. Walter L. Smith Library & Museum, in the heart of West Tampa, in protest against unaffordable rate increases. TECO’s 830,000 Florida customers have faced two consecutive rate hikes this year, increasing electricity bills between $29 to $38 per month. To afford higher bills, Tampa families have made difficult choices between keeping the lights on and purchasing groceries and other daily needs.
