SACRAMENTO—The California Air Resources Board (CARB) on Thursday heard more than six hours of testimony on its staff’s weak proposal for zero-emission truck manufacturing targets. The board concluded the hearing by strongly signaling to the staff that more work is needed to ensure the rule is as effective as necessary to protect public health and improve air quality.

Sacramento, CA– Today, eight states - California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont - and the District of Columbia committed to move forward together to develop an agreement and action plan to put hundreds of thousands more zero-emission trucks and buses onto their roads and highways. Following yesterday’s release of Trump’s revised NAFTA 2.0, the Sierra Club evaluated the newly-updated text against the fundamental changes the environmental community has repeatedly called for. The revised deal fails on each of the 7 core environmental priorities that the Sierra Club and other leading environmental organizations have consistently named, most recently in a joint letter to Congress sent on Monday.

Oakland, CA— A federal court today ruled that President Trump’s use of emergency powers to divert $3.6 billion in military construction funds for the border wall is unlawful. The ruling came in a lawsuit, Sierra Club v. Trump, filed by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of the Sierra Club and Southern Border Communities Coalition.
