A coalition of environmental groups filed letters today urging the Trump administration to analyze the environmental impacts of the approved route for the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.

SALT LAKE CITY --  Vet Voice Foundation and Sierra Club Military Outdoors launched a billboard campaign in Utah today calling for the defense of public lands. The billboards go up the same day as President Trump is visiting the state. Trump is widely expected to announce sweeping reductions to Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments.

The billboards are placed along I-80 and near Hill Air Force Base.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Scott Pruitt’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will hold a hearing for the reconsideration -- with intent to repeal -- pollution limits from glider kit trucks (freight trucks with a used engine installed in an otherwise new frame). The repeal would declassify "glider kits" as new vehicles or engines, making them no longer subject to air pollution control requirements. EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt announced his intent to revisit the glider loophole that was just closed in August of 2016.

The GOP tax scheme will reportedly force cuts to federal, state, and local investments in clean air and water protections, education, and transportation while hiking taxes for middle and working class Americans, and throwing millions off of their health care plans.

Today, the United States Forest Service issued a decision to allow the fracked gas Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) to cross the Jefferson National Forest. In addition to its role in exacerbating climate change, the Sierra Club opposes this pipeline on the grounds that the need for it does not exist, and there is no need to send it through undisturbed portions of the Appalachian Trail and Jefferson National Forest.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Rep. Gallego today introduced legislation to preserve the Bears Ears National Monument and to expand safeguards for areas important to Tribal Nations that were left out of the original designation. The legislation comes as leaked documents show the Trump administration is planning massive reductions to Bears Ears National Monument, cutting the monument by 85%. Also on the chopping block is Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, which could be cut by half.
