BOISE, ID -- As part of a settlement deal released yesterday, Idaho Power announced its intention to close the two units at Nevada’s North Valmy Generating Station several years ahead of schedule. Idaho Power plans to close Unit 1 in 2019 and Unit 2 in 2025. Idaho Power’s current schedule depreciates Units 1 and 2 in 2031 and 2035, respectively.

Brooklyn, NY -- After the New York MTA announced the plan to purchase 200 diesel buses to mitigate the closure of the L train, the Sierra Club released a letter to Governor Cuomo and the CEO of the NYMTA signed by 100 Brooklyn businesses in support of clean, quiet, zero-emission buses for Brooklyn and throughout the MTA service territory.

York, NE -- Today, the Nebraska Public Service Commission (PSC) is holding its lone public comment meeting along the proposed path of the Keystone XL pipeline. The meeting is offering Nebraskans the opportunity to debate whether it should grant TransCanada the permit necessary to construct the pipeline. While hundreds showed up to the meeting today, the Public Service Commission is only allowing fewer than 150 Nebraskans to speak.
