FRANKFORT, KY -- On Tuesday, March 4, at 11:00 am advocates will hold a press conference outlining the dangers of Senate Bill 89 (SB 89), legislation that would dismantle long-standing water protections and threaten clean water access for Kentuckians. Subject matter experts from Kentucky Resources Council (KRC), Sierra Club Kentucky and Kentucky Waterways Alliance (KWA) will highlight how SB 89 will impact waterways and community members will share their concerns, underlining the importance of safe water for constituents. The bill will be read before the Natural Resources & Energy committee on Thursday.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins announced a timber lobbyist as the next head of the U.S. Forest Service.

In an afternoon press release, Rollins named Tom Schultz as the next leader of the agency tasked with overseeing 193 million acres of national forests and public lands, including 36.6 million acres of wilderness. He succeeds Randy Moore, who announced his resignation as the agency’s chief this week.

Washington, DC - Today, the Republican-led U.S. Senate passed a Congressional Review Act resolution to repeal an EPA rule implementing the Methane Emissions Reduction Program’s waste emissions charge. Congress included this critical program in the Inflation Reduction Act to help protect our families and communities from harmful oil and gas pollution. The charge is a commonsense measure to cut excessive methane emissions from corporations that are the largest polluters, secure American energy, and create jobs. The U.S. House of Representatives passed a companion resolution yesterday.
