WASHINGTON, DC -- Yesterday, after requests from bipartisan groups of senators, the administration’s Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service issued a notice extending construction deadlines by one year for renewable energy projects to qualify for tax credits. The move will provide some relief to taxpayers and companies developing renewable energy projects amid industry-wide delays and significant job loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
BATON ROUGE, LA -- Yesterday, the Louisiana Public Service Commission (PSC) approved Southwest Electric Power Company’s (SWEPCO) request to provide up to 464 MW of renewable wind energy to its customers in the state. SWEPCO expects the wind energy investment will save its customers an estimated $2 billion over the 30-year life of the project and create hundreds of jobs.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Yesterday, the Louisiana Public Service Commission (PSC) approved Southwest Electric Power Company’s (SWEPCO) request to provide renewable wind energy to its customers. The approval could provide up to 464 MW of power for SWEPCO customers in Louisiana and up to 268 MW for customers in Arkansas. Arkansas and Oklahoma already approved the project. The wind energy will be distributed to Arkansas and Louisiana from wind farms in Oklahoma.

Washington, DC -- Today, southern Oregon organizations filed a lawsuit challenging Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approval of the Jordan Cove LNG export terminal and Pacific Connector fracked gas pipeline. FERC issued its approval in March, conditioned on the project qualifying for critical permits from the state of Oregon. Three of those permits have already been denied or withdrawn.
