Washington, D.C. - According to reporting, the U.S. Treasury issued new guidance that tightens restrictions for renewable energy tax credits and effectively limits renewable energy projects from accessing tax credits that would help lower the cost of energy and add more reliable and renewable energy to the U.S. electricity grid.

PHOENIX, ARIZ - Thursday, the Arizona Corporation voted 5-0 to proceed with repealing Arizona’s Renewable Energy Standard and Tariff (REST), despite the significant benefits it provides to ratepayers and strong opposition by clean energy advocates. The REST rules have incentivized development of clean, low-cost renewable energy like solar power and have brought investment and jobs to Arizona.

UTAH — Sierra Club is urging the Utah Department of Air Quality (UDAQ) to rescind its draft approval order that would allow both gas and coal units at the Intermountain Power Plant (IPP), near Delta, UT, to operate without requiring any additional pollution controls on either the IPP gas or coal units or even evaluating whether any controls are necessary. UDAQ is accepting comments on the draft permit until August 18.

A lawsuit by major truck manufacturers Daimler Truck, Volvo, Paccar and Traton against the Clean Truck Partnership which they signed two years ago has been slammed as a “red flag” for the trucking industry. The agreement with the California Air Resources Board aims to secure the future of the trucking industry by increasing the number of clean, high-tech trucks and helping businesses avoid high diesel prices.
