An independent analysis describes how Colorado’s coal-burning power plants are economically unviable, burdening customers with extra costs when compared to renewable energy resources. Conducted by energy consulting firm, Strategen, the report finds that renewable resources have outpaced coal, with the potential to save customers millions of dollars. These savings increase when the social cost of carbon (SCC) for the 10 units in the study is accounted for and securitized bonds are used as a tool to transition away from coal.

WASHINGTON, DC - On Thursday, House Democrats successfully pushed forward a package of appropriations bills for FY 2020 that increases funding for important public lands and environmental programs. It also includes major environmental victories, especially a one-year moratorium on new oil and gas leasing in the sacred Chaco Canyon. A series of successful amendments will also prevent the administration from using funds to drill in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and off the Gulf Coast of Florida, build roads through the Tongass National Forest in Alaska, and engage in a variety of other environmentally destructive practices.

READING, PA -- Today, the Reading City Council unanimously voted to adopt a resolution establishing a goal of powering the entire community with 100 percent clean, renewable energy by 2050. 

Reading is the 19th community in Pennsylvania to commit to 100 percent clean, renewable energy. It is also the 130th city to adopt this goal nationally.
