Sally Schiller is this month's Volunteer of the Month — and her husband Joe could just as easily be wearing that title any month of the year. Together they anchor the Clarksville/Montgomery group, are active leaders in the Chapter, run a farm in Montgomery County and still find time to drive real legislative wins. Sally's action alert this week helped kill a bill that would have made it easier for developers to destroy farmland. Members across the state responded, the Senate took notice, and the bill is kaput.
Celebrating Sally Schiller this March!
Sally started a trend that has become an anchor of our legislative work this session. We've used action alerts for years, but this year something clicked — volunteers with real expertise took ownership of the tool, and the results are paying off.
Last month, Sally stepped up to write an action alert for impaired waterways — and in doing so, started a trend that has become an anchor of our legislative work this session. We've used action alerts for years, but this year something clicked — volunteers with real expertise took ownership of the tool, and the results have been remarkable. We only have 1 active action alert from our legislative committee at sc.org/takeactiontn.
Sally's most recent alert led to another victory in the legislature this week. Sally authored an action opposing a bill that would make it easier for developers to destroy farmland. Members from across the state participated and the bill failed this week in the Senate!
Thank you Sally and thank you Sierrans!
