Counties all across the state are pushing to halt data center construction and to pass laws that protect our communities, our electricity bills, our air and water, our climate, and our neighborhoods.
This coming Tuesday, July 7th, Nashville and Davidson County residents can make their voices heard at a public hearing on two pieces of proposed legislation: A bill by Metro Councilwoman Courtney Johnson (BL2026-1448) that would impose a temporary moratorium on data centers being built in Davidson County until zoning regulations are put in place.
The second proposed bill by Metro Councilman Rollin Horton (BL2026-1931) that would ban very large data centers in Davidson County (defined as over 100 MW or over 500,000 square feet in area) and impose zoning restrictions, environmental regulations, and transparency and permitting requirements on any other data center projects. This hearing is a huge opportunity to make your voice heard on the issue of data centers in Nashville. Because of overwhelming public demand, tickets will be required to speak on data centers and will be handed out on the second floor of the Metro Courthouse at 5 pm (we'd recommend getting there before 5 if at all possible in order to get a ticket). The hearing itself starts at 6:30 pm.
