We hope you will join us as we explore and enjoy the natural world we live in. You don't have to be a member to enjoy these events.

Our outings include hikes in State Parks, natural areas and wilderness areas. Our leaders are trained by the Sierra Club to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Each outing has a set rating that determines how strenuous they can be while participating. Each outing will also have specific warnings or additions along with their rating that participants will need to keep in mind when determining which hike they are wanting to join. The ratings the HBG uses are:

• Easy/Beginner: These are beginner friendly outings that beginner hikers can attend. 
• Moderate: These hikes are still beginner friendly for those fit for a couple of hours hiking, but they can include some difficult terrain or include some manual labor working outdoors
• Strenuous: These are for experienced hikers or those who are active outdoors, with hikes being over difficult terrain, changings in elevation, and/or can last a few hours.
